SCOPE OF SERVICES
We believe the arts have the power to inspire, communicate and encourage different ways of thinking around the climate emergency.
Our vision is for the Creative Changemaker for Climate Action to work with Aberdeen Performing Arts to address the issues of the climate emergency, identifying areas where we can use the arts to develop imaginative, inclusive ways of working which connect communities, artists and venues, building pathways to engagement and participation.
The Changemaker will achieve this by:
* Working in partnership with community groups and artists on defining, researching, developing, producing and delivering creative projects which explore the impacts of climate change and give a voice to communities to tell their stories;
* Exploring opportunities to work with our more affluent communities and initiating creative approaches to questioning how their lifestyle choices impact negatively on the climate and climate justice;
* Developing ways of working which have at their core a commitment to being part of the solution in addressing the climate emergency;
* Ensuring projects delivered are inclusive, relevant and result in a meaningful legacy;
* Linking with local and national cultural organisations to share ways of working, strengthening networks which will deliver creative interventions which give more voice to everyone.
Additionally, the Creative Changemaker for Climate Action will:
* Work with the Programming and Creative Engagement Teams to support on programming and producing climate change themed work in our venues;
* Work with the Changemaker for Inclusion and Relevance to ensure climate change work is relevant, accessible and inclusive;
* Work with our Green Team to support on exploring how we can use the arts to continue to become a more environmentally conscious organisation, minimising our impact on the environment, from our buildings through to our productions and operations.
THE PERSON
We are seeking a creative individual, a natural influencer, someone who is a champion for enabling the positive change needed to address the critical situation we find ourselves in as a result of the climate emergency. A professional qualification is not essential to this post; we are more interested in your approach to creative ways in which to work with us to deliver the scope of work.
You will have experience of initiating, developing, producing and delivering creative initiatives which support communities to take ownership of issues impacting their lives; ideally, these will be projects with a focus on the climate emergency but this is not essential.
Your experience will also cover working within an arts organisation, programming and producing work which responds to climate change.
As someone who is comfortable with influencing across all levels and a natural communicator, you will be happy and confident working in different settings. With a high level of emotional intelligence, people find it easy to relate to you and you are skilled at bringing people on board in a positive way.

The freelance contract will start in April 2025 for an initial period of one year.
