Are you driven to improve the care and experience of children and young people (CYP) who access mental health services? Are you looking for an opportunity to play a pivotal role in CYP's mental health journeys? We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our interventions team for a 1 year fixed term post. The post will provide a invaluable opportunity to support children and young people and their family/carers whilst working with the wider system to provide the best care to those who need it.
In recent years and in particular following the Covid-19 pandemic, CYP have experienced a significant impact on their emotional and mental health needs and the number of CYP accessing Crisis services has increased.
You will be joining our interventions team to provide a therapeutic intervention to support children and young people who are experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties.
The post holder will have experience working with CYP who present with complex, high risk behaviours. They will work with a team of multidisciplinary professionals to deliver a high quality service to children and young people presenting with moderate to severe mental health difficulties within the Cardiff and Vale locality.
Main Duties of the Job
The role will require excellent communication and engagement skills, providing assessment, intervention, and care planning as part of the Mental Health Measure for Wales.
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide care and support to the most vulnerable.
The post holder will have regular access to line management, clinical supervision, and peer support.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Degree or equivalent level of skills, knowledge, and experience
* Experience in teaching
* Evidence of CPD relevant to CAMHS
Experience
* Relevant post-registration training in evidenced based practice
* Experience of mental health assessment and implementation of a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions
* Experience of working in partnership with other agencies
* Working knowledge of health, social services, education, and the voluntary sector, together with the relevant legislation regarding children's mental health
* Experience of group teaching
* Experience of audit
Skills
* Ability to manage anxiety effectively and work with young people with challenging behaviour
* Flexible and adaptable to working conditions; IT skills
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Packages including Word, Publisher, Excel, etc.
Special Knowledge
* Extensive knowledge in normal and abnormal child development
* Extensive knowledge in child and adolescent mental health issues
