Job summary The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust is welcoming applications for a Consultant General and Benign Biliary/Upper GI Surgeon. You will provide benign general surgical and upper gastrointestinal surgical services to the community served by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust. You will play a key role with colleagues in further developing general surgical services. You will provide, alongside consultant colleagues a service in general surgery involving in-patient and out-patient work and share in the on-call rota. This is a new post to support the development of the General Surgery service. All staff support and ancillary facilities are in place. There will be office space for you with a dedicated computer and IT facilities and medical secretarial support. We welcome informal visits and enquiries. Main duties of the job To provide a general surgical service including general surgical elective activity and 1 in 9 on call emergency cover for general surgery at QEH To provide elective benign biliary/Upper GI surgical service Consultants are required to have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and for the proper funding of their departments. They are expected to undertake administrative duties that arise from these responsibilities.
