Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by an oil service company to source a Business Analyst on a full time, staff basis. Our client is a private equity backed, highly acquisitive global business who service the global offshore energy industry. This role will be based in Turriff with flexible working and a competitive salary. This role is responsible for providing data driven insights into current and forecast business performance, covering both financial and operational metrics. You will produce key reporting deliverables, along with developing new dashboards and metrics using analytics tools in cooperation with the divisional management team. To be considered, you will be an experienced Accountant with a keen interest in data analysis, systems, FPA and process improvement. The Opportunity Lead in the preparation of the weekly revenue flash forecast and present to the divisional management team along with explanations of weekly movements and recommendation on the three-month outlook Work closely with the project delivery leads to raise the quality of operational information which drives forecasting and invoicing Review, analyse and report on variances in the reported monthly revenues Develop and streamline the process for extracting and analysing source data to create the revenue flash report Develop dashboards and other tools to track and monitor the quality of operational information and highlight actual to flash variances Lead in the preparation and analysis of annual budget and in year forecasts at revenue and gross margin level Analyse pipeline data, conversion rates and historical trends to support targeted levels of unconfirmed work Analyse and rationalise forecast performance on key projects, demonstrating an understanding of project budgets, timescales, status, risks and revenue recognition Lead in analysing performance of the personnel and equipment base, both from a historical and forecast perspective, to inform management decision making Assist in the development of project performance reporting to provide improved visibility of financial performance and drivers Provide analysis and challenge of internal incurred and forecast spend across fleet maintenance and facilities, working with the operational team to increase cost awareness and discipline across the business Participate in system implementation or upgrade projects, including helping to define requirements, refining and liaising with external suppliers, testing, and training users Drive towards full integration of financial and related performance data which currently exists across different platforms (e.g., C-SAM, Sage, WAP) onto a single ERP and Analytics solution Provide financial and systems input into the second phase of the ERP implementation to refine the configuration and assist with migration and testing to ensure the system captures appropriate data to enable the business to maintain and improve on current financial reporting and analytics Assist in the extension of system functionality to cover multi-entity projects to drive a standardised approach and holistic project view Identify other opportunities to leverage accounting systems to provide improved levels of insight, analysis, control and automation Contribute to increasing financial awareness throughout the organisation by working with the operations team to interpret and apply analysis and financial data Working with the Head of Finance, analyse current financial processes and systems, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements Identify and highlight operational concerns or areas for improvement encountered through analysis of business data Background and Experience Experienced Accountant with a high level of proficiency in working with financial systems and databases Skilled in the use of data analytics solutions such as Excel, NSAW, SQL, Tableau or Power BI Strong business acumen and interest in understanding operational and commercial issues Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Confident in working across the organization and presenting to management Attention to detail and high standards of data accuracy Flexibility and Benefits Flexible working Competitive salary Career progression Next Steps If you are interested in taking the next step in your career or feel a change of environment or sector is your next path, this could be the ideal job opportunity for you To apply please send a full CV.
