About the role:
We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor with experience within the construction industry. The successful candidate will assist the H&S Manager in managing health and safety across the business, based at our Head Office in Lympne, Kent, with travel required across the UK.
Core Competency Requirements:
1. 3 Years + experience in a Health & Safety advisory role within the construction industry.
Key Requirements:
1. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) desirable.
2. Proven experience in a Health and Safety Advisor role within construction; rail industry experience would also be advantageous.
3. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to advise and train employees at all levels.
5. Full UK driving license (for site visits and inspections).
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Recognised Qualification in Health & Safety.
8. Valid CSCS Card / or willing to progress quickly.
9. IT Skills (Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
Day to Day Duties:
1. Working under the guidance of the company Health & Safety Manager.
2. Advising site management on day-to-day health & safety matters.
3. Building up a good rapport with the client and the workforce.
4. Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety Legislation/CDM Regs/Client's standards.
5. Promoting and encouraging best practice.
6. Coordinating the completion of safety paperwork by supervisors (briefings/inspections).
7. Carrying out daily and weekly site inspections.
8. Delivering toolbox talks on health, safety and wellbeing themes.
9. Attending and chairing safety meetings.
10. Health and wellbeing promotional campaigns.
11. Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and sharing lessons learned.
12. Reviewing documentation for appropriate health & safety content (method statements etc).
13. Managing the implementation of the project ISO45001 Safety Management System.
