Looking for a MEP Project Engineer to work in a unique MEP Station Systems role across all 4 HS2 Main Stations. We are interested in candidates who are qualified engineers, have worked on rail projects (ideally major stations), and understand how MEP station systems integrate into an operational railway.
The HS2 programme is currently valued at approximately £60 billion and has 10 years left to run. This is the largest construction project in Europe, providing the opportunity to work on all 4 Station Contracts: Old Oak Common, Curzon Street, Birmingham Interchange, and Euston Stations. The role ensures that station systems such as Lifts & Escalators, Station Building Systems (customer information systems, security, PA, Fire, etc.), Low Voltage (LV), and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) are successfully developed and integrated into the Major Stations.
The Project Engineer will support the Lead Senior Project Engineer in leading and coordinating engineering capability to support the Stations Delivery Services Director. The role includes providing Principal Designer progressive assurance evidence of coordination, integration, and interface management for Station Common Components contracts, as well as leading on wider-reaching engineering workstreams impacting all four Stations contracts.
The Station Common Component (SCC) team was established to manage the contractual responsibilities of the Station Common Components frameworks, promote better collaboration and integration between Stations and High-Speed Rail Systems contracts, and develop standard ways of working with other HS2 integration functions. The SCC Framework ensures a common design principle and common specification of components such as Lifts and escalators across all four stations to drive better prices (economies of scale), aid integration, and simplify Operations & Maintenance.
This is a varied role that entails liaising across the integrated project teams on the 4 stations, Rail Systems, System Safety, and SMEs within HS2. This is an opportunity to make a significant difference and shape the four stations; the team will manage the integration of 400 lifts & escalators across the stations. This developing team offers excellent opportunities for development, with the next step being Senior Project Engineer, paying approximately £80,000 - £85,000.
