Resident Engineer - Felixstowe Docks
Servicing and repairing material handling equipment and other specified equipment on site. To carry out service and repairs to equipment on customer sites in a safe, professional, and cost-effective manner, maintaining documentation of all works carried out in line with Health and Safety and Quality procedures.
What we offer:
As one of 3 Engineers supporting Felixstowe Docks, your responsibilities will include:
1. Ordering of parts as efficiently as possible and ensuring all stock levels/movement records are accurate and correct.
2. Disposing of all waste products relating to the repair/service of the MHE using approved waste disposal companies.
3. Ensuring automated systems and all paperwork are completed accurately and within the stipulated time period with the relevant order numbers.
4. Monitoring and counting site stock to ensure sufficiency for the day-to-day maintenance of the fleet.
5. Keeping servicing and WIP up to date.
6. Maintaining a safe working environment and working in a safe manner, ensuring site rules and regulations are followed at all times.
7. Reporting any unsafe practices or potential hazards immediately.
8. Providing reliable information to the customer regarding maintenance, consultation on repairs, and advice on the use of equipment.
9. Carrying out inspections and monitoring the safety of the repaired and maintained trucks.
10. Liaising with the Service Controller, customer, and Service Manager to ensure information regarding individual forklifts and equipment is shared, including damage or requests for a replacement truck in the event of a long repair, as well as keeping all relevant parties updated with the progress of work activities.
11. Working closely with the sales and STR team and referring leads.
12. Accurately completing job sheets, timesheets, purchase requisitions, and parts paperwork within the required timescale.
13. Making proposals for the improvement of the implementation of work activities and work conditions.
14. Taking responsibility for all equipment and tooling (including van/laptop/printer, etc.) and ensuring that it is in a safe, clean condition for the type of work being undertaken (where van is required due to site requirements).
Tasks and Qualifications:
1. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent associated occupation.
2. Electrical, hydraulic, and/or mechanical competencies.
3. Good communication skills to liaise with customers and internal colleagues.
4. Sound IT knowledge/skills, e.g., Word, Excel, email.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Completing tasks to a high standard.
7. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
8. A positive and can-do attitude.
