Job Overview
Are you an experienced CNC Turner looking to work for a more established local manufacturing business? Do you have a passion for precision engineering, an excellent understanding of the turning process and can work to tight tolerances and surface finishes? Our client is a long-established business that specializes in the manufacture of low volume, high quality, tubular and threaded components for various sectors including Aerospace, Oil & Gas, and Defense industries. Due to continuous expansion, they are actively hiring for an experienced CNC Turner as they look to expand our engineering team.
Experience Required
1. Proven time served experience in programming, setting and operating 2 axis turning machines.
2. Ability to write new CNC programs long hand at the machine with little or no supervision.
3. Experience programming using 'Manual Guide i' software.
4. Experience programming using G codes.
5. Editing prewritten programs and full machine setup including material, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
6. Carry out in-process inspection using measuring equipment.
7. Producing one-off, as well as low to medium volume precision parts in a range of hard and soft metals.
8. Excellent working knowledge of 2 axis CNC machines, cutting speeds and feeds, geometric tolerances.
9. Solid understanding of interpreting engineering drawings and standards.
10. Experience of Fanuc controls would be advantageous.
11. Strong working history within the manufacturing industry in a machine shop environment.
12. Hands-on, quality-driven, positive, self-motivated manner to be able to hit the ground running.
13. Confident in working on parts up to ¢300mm x 3m in length, using lifting equipment provided as some of our work can be large. Hoist training will also be provided.
