Job Overview
Are you an experienced CNC Turner looking to work for a more established local manufacturing business? Do you have a passion for precision engineering, an excellent understanding of the turning process and can work to tight tolerances and surface finishes? Our client is a long-established business that specialises in the manufacture of low volume, high quality, tubular and threaded components for various sectors including Aerospace, Oil & Gas and Defense industries and due to continuous expansion, they are actively hiring for an experienced CNC Turner as are looking to expand our engineering team.
Experience Required
* Proven time served experience in programming, setting and operating 2 axis turning machines.
* Ability to write new CNC programs long hand at the machine with little or no supervision.
* Experience programming using ‘Manual Guide i’ software.
* Experience programming using G codes.
* Also, editing prewritten programs, the full machine setup including material, tooling, speeds, feeds.
* Carry out in-process inspection using measuring equipment.
* Producing one off, as well as low to medium volume precision parts in a range of hard and soft metals.
* Excellent working knowledge of 2 axis CNC machines, cutting speeds and feeds, geometric tolerances.
* Solid understanding of interpreting engineering drawings and standards.
* Experience of Fanuc controls would be advantageous.
* Have a strong working history within the manufacturing industry within a machine shop environment.
* Have a hands-on, quality driven, positive, self-motivated manner in order to be able to hit the ground running.
* Confident in working on parts up to ¢300mm x 3m in length, using lifting equipment provided as some of our work can be large. Hoist training will also be provided
