Tasks and responsibilities:
Key Purpose of the Role
As a member of the UK Leadership Team, the UK HR Manager will oversee all HR operations across multiple sites nationwide, currently comprising seven distribution centres within a 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring that HR strategies and initiatives align with business objectives while maintaining operational excellence. The HR Manager will lead and support a team of HR professionals, including HR Business Partners, to deliver effective HR solutions and foster a high-performing and engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership
* Provide strategic leadership and direction to the HR team across all UK sites.
* Develop and implement HR strategies that align with organisational goals and drive business performance.
* Act as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to decision-making and organisational strategy.
Team Management and Development
* Directly manage and support HR Business Partners and Advisors, ensuring their development and effective delivery of HR services at cluster and site level.
* Build a high-performing HR team through mentoring, training, and performance management.
* Foster a culture of collaboration and shared best practices among the HR team.
Employee Relations (ER)
* Provide oversight and guidance on complex employee relations issues, ensuring consistency and compliance with UK employment law.
* Partner with the HR team and operational managers to resolve disputes and improve workplace relations.
* Build strong relationships with trade unions or employee representatives, where applicable.
HR Policy and Compliance
* Ensure all HR policies and procedures are up to date, legally compliant, and effectively communicated across the organisation.
* Monitor and maintain compliance with UK employment legislation.
* Analyse and report on HR metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Workforce Planning and Talent Management
* Lead workforce planning initiatives to ensure resource alignment with business needs.
* Oversee talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning processes.
* Support the development of leadership capabilities and career progression pathways within the organisation.
Employee Engagement and Culture
* Champion initiatives to enhance employee engagement and build a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
* Act as a custodian for organisational values, ensuring they are embedded across all sites.
* Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at a national level.
Change Management
* Lead organisational change initiatives, including restructures, expansions, and cultural transformations.
* Ensure clear communication and employee buy-in during periods of change.
* Act as a change agent, promoting adaptability and continuous improvement.
Profile:
Key skills and qualifications:
Essential
* Extensive experience in an HR leadership role, ideally within logistics, supply chain, or a similar operational environment.
* Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
* Proven experience managing a team of HR professionals, including remote or multi-site teams.
* Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic HR initiatives.
* Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable
* CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent).
* Familiarity with HRIS systems and data-driven decision-making.
