We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day logistics of our plant and machinery movement operations. Based at our offices in Avonmouth, Bristol, the hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.30pm.
You will ensure our plant movement teams, machinery, and equipment are allocated to meet our customer requirements on a daily and weekly basis, working in a dynamic environment:
Duties include:
1. Liaising with area managers, and sales and contract managers to get a detailed understanding of each job, ensuring all details are available for each job.
2. Allocating and instructing the operatives team to ensure that the right personnel and equipment is identified for each job.
3. Sourcing own operatives, plant, and equipment from external suppliers and subcontractors.
4. Ensuring a detailed record is kept, including cost and location of all equipment.
5. Responsible for signing the purchase ledger and ensuring that the rehire cost is minimised.
This is a very busy and challenging role, so we are looking for a confident and professional individual who can thrive under pressure with high attention to detail.
Experience / Skills:
1. Relevant experience preferably gained within the crane or plant hire industry.
2. Operational understanding of a hire desk within the plant and machinery movement, crane or plant hire industries would be an advantage.
3. Experience of managing subcontractors based around different geographical locations.
4. Strong leadership skills.
5. Excellent communication and organisation skills.
6. Prioritisation and the ability to work under pressure.
7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
