This role is known internally as Senior Administrator. Put simply, we set the standards by which everything is measured. In doing so, the National Physical Laboratory is helping to combat issues on a global scale such as climate change, curing diseases and the development of cutting-edge communications technology. In what is an exciting period of change, our Transformation and Information Technology leaders need the highest quality support to allow them to deliver our ambitions. As a Senior Administrator, you’ll tackle the more complex tasks to provide a high quality, personal administrative service to our managers. At NPL, we touch ordinary lives in extraordinary ways and you could too. As the leaders of our business, our department managers have many demands on their time. As you gain a thorough understanding of the operation and their needs, you’ll deliver the kind of personal and administrative assistance that allows them to perform at their best. It’ll be you they come to rely on to make things happen. Not only will you learn what the department needs, you’ll get to know what individuals need too. From managing calendars and travel arrangements, to putting the finishing touches to presentation, compiling management information and taking minutes, you’ll do everything you can to add-value. That includes building relationships internally and externally, so that you know who to contact when something needs to be done. As a key contact for the team, you’ll field calls and emails, dealing with anything that you can to help alleviate pressure points. You’ll also keep our administrative systems and databases up-to-date and balance your own workload so that everyone is happy. About You You’re a highly competent Senior Administrator/Personal Assistant, with experience of handing multiple stakeholders. Always positive and unquestionably organised, you’re both proactive and reactive, able to juggle often conflicting priorities diplomatically. At NPL, we learn from each other, respect each other and work together to do better. For ourselves and for our customers. And whilst we’re always looking to stretch beyond what we know, we don’t make things more complicated when there’s no need. You will be asked about this throughout the recruitment process. To work at NPL, you will need to obtain BPSS security clearance.
