The salary for this role is £67,023 (inclusive of a Specialist allowance). Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is to be based in Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Principal or Senior Engineer ready to take ownership of critical design authority for high-complexity facilities. Join our Engineering Authority and become a key player in ensuring performance, compliance, and safety throughout the entire plant lifecycle.
As Deputy Facility Chief Engineer, you’ll directly support the UKAEA Chief Engineer and Facility Chief Engineer, acting as their delegate and independently overseeing technical governance, particularly for experiments involving Electrical, Controls & Robotic systems. You’ll also leverage your specialist skills to contribute to the Engineering Authority across all UKAEA facilities and programmes.
This role demands a proactive individual who is invested in long-term success and excels at building strong relationships with operations leaders and safety case holders. You’ll be a visible and confident point of contact for technical governance, capable of interacting effectively with everyone from directors to early career engineers, providing crucial scrutiny of engineering decisions. Minimum Requirements
* Extensive experience with complex industrial or research plants.
* Extensive experience in the delivery across Plant Lifecycle (Need, Design, Build & Test, Commission, Operate, Monitor, Maintain & Modify, Decommission).
* Experience with industrial regulations, codes, standards, and norms together with tailoring their application within a diverse business.
* Proven leadership in multi-disciplinary teams across engineering delivery, operations, safety case, asset management and maintenance, and more.
