T Vaughan Ltd is a specialist Enabling, Groundworks, Civil Engineering and RC Frame company based in Brentwood, Essex. We employ a select group of individuals with the professional knowledge and practical skills to provide a high-quality service, tailored to our clients' needs. Current projects range in value from £500k to £10 million. As a company, we operate within a fast-paced environment across a diverse range of projects primarily in London and the South East but with projects stretching across the whole of England. We are currently experiencing a period of sustained growth and require an experienced Senior Site Manager to join our project team in Chester.
About the Role
The nominated Site Manager will have the main responsibilities but not limited to:
* Scheduling, coordinating, and supervising the work of all operatives, ensuring that all work is delivered safely on time and within budget along with managing equipment and materials required.
* Overseeing the temporary works management of the project in the capacity of Temporary Works Supervisor.
* Overseeing all aspects of work, ensuring that the construction programme is being followed.
* Ensuring that RAMS are up to date and on-site H&S documentation is in place and effectively communicated to the workforce.
* Directing the site teams on the correct setup of the site.
* Attending and delivering daily briefings, safe starts, and toolbox talks.
* Overseeing Statutory Checks.
* Overseeing specific elements of work in a hands-on working foreman capacity, driving the project.
* Coordinating delivery/pickup of materials with HQ.
* Identifying plant, tools, and equipment that may be required.
* Ensuring procurement and reconciliation of materials is carried out in accordance with company procedures to best value and to prevent delays.
* Ensuring site teams' compliance with company commercial policies and procedures.
* Attending progress meetings on the project as required.
* Ensuring correct commercial engagement of any contracted suppliers and sub-contractors.
* Ensuring that suitable and sufficient information is regularly communicated to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
* Ensuring weekly review of progress and forward planning are carried out, and lookahead programmes are in place.
* Making notification to the Principal Contractor of the intention to use sub-contractors in any part of the planned works.
Health, Safety and Environmental - By example, set the highest possible standards of leadership and promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with company procedures and legal obligations.
* Ensuring site staff are aware of the site rules, carry out introductions and inductions, retaining a copy of the same for H&S records.
* Allocating HS&E responsibilities and duties for site personnel, checking understanding and providing training as necessary.
* Assisting in the investigation of notifiable accidents or dangerous occurrences and recommending means of preventing re-occurrence.
* Ensuring that adequate resources are allocated to cover sound working methods and reasonable welfare facilities.
* Reprimanding any member of site supervisory staff or sub-contractors for failing to discharge safety responsibilities satisfactorily.
* Ensuring that any design calculations for temporary works are independently checked (where required) and appointing a temporary works designer.
* Setting a personal example when visiting sites by wearing appropriate protective clothing and equipment.
* Maintaining and managing the construction site, including any appointed sub-contractors, ensuring all company procedures and obligations are followed.
* Overseeing and ensuring that HSE related documents are kept up to date, toolbox talks, briefings, statutory checks, and the like are promptly and correctly completed.
* Undertaking senior management site inspections and reporting back to the SHEQ Manager as necessary.
* Having a wide knowledge of the requirements of The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM2015) and other relevant legislation.
* Any other acts and tasks as may be reasonably requested by the line manager, a senior manager, or the Directorship team.
* Assisting the SHEQ Manager with regular audits, understanding the actions required and closing out the actions in a timely manner using the Go Audits platform and app.
* Utilising Field View software to record, retain and collate H&S Records.
* Logging in, utilising and implementing the use of Chime timekeeping software for timesheets for the site timesheets including adding and updating the database for new starters.
Quality - Ensuring that ITPs/O&M manuals, etc. are followed.
* Ensuring that the QA File is maintained as required.
* Establishing, setting the tone for and promoting best practice.
* Issuing required QA, ITPs, O&M manuals in a timely manner.
* Responsible for the direction of engineering on the project including production of as-built records.
* Utilising Field View software to record, retain and collate QA Records.
Client Relations
* Building and maintaining relationships with both the client and external customers.
* Any other acts and tasks as may be reasonably requested by the senior leadership team.
