Mechanical Assembly Technician – Do you have a background in Mechanics, either through work or as a hobby? If yes, then SPGenevac, part of a well-established and highly regarded scientific equipment brand manufacturer, is seeking multiple Assembly Technicians to join our company based in Ipswich, on a full-time basis.

We will allow you to learn and develop your skills, giving you the opportunity to use them daily. The Assembly Technician will be expected, after training, to build and test from the complete range of SP products manufactured at the Ipswich facility. The Assembly Technician will report to the Production Manager.
For the successful candidate, there is a three-tier progression system supporting training and understanding across our products.
Key Tasks:
1. Assembly of mechanical and electrical sub-systems and full build of SP products.
2. Testing of mechanical and electrical assemblies to ensure the product meets quality standards.
3. Chamber and condenser assembly, including gassing/evacuation and brazing.
4. Low-level fault diagnosis and correction.
5. Movement of materials/products.
6. In-process quality inspection/testing of materials and products, including maintaining our quality records for our QMS ISO 9001 accreditation.
7. Help with the training of other personnel on build and test processes when suitably experienced.
8. Highlighting any defaults with items received from outside contractors/suppliers or other departments.
9. Meeting the defined build times for each product line at the required quality levels and product specifications.
You will be a practical person who can build/create using your hands with mechanical ability. Practical knowledge of the production manufacturing industry and brazing and soldering skills would be ideal but not essential.
Ideally, you will have experience in mechanical assembly within a light engineering environment. For more senior roles, you will have machine shop experience, including reading mechanical drawings with Lean manufacturing experience. Knowledge of Health and Safety at work, including manual handling techniques, is also required.
As well as having an excellent eye for detail and quality awareness, you will be computer literate and able to write and communicate in English. You should also be a team player who can motivate fellow colleagues and capable of multi-tasking with flexible thinking.
This is a full-time permanent role, which is physically demanding, and you will be required to follow all Health & Safety, PPE, and ESD procedures as per company rules. Hours are 37.5 per week: Monday 7:30 – 4:30, Tuesday – Thursday 7:30 – 4:15, and Friday 7:30 am – 1 pm.
