What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to provide support for 2 pupils with special needs in our Reception class. Working alongside the class teachers and the SENCO, you will be responsive to the individual needs of the pupils and ensure they are able to access the curriculum and all learning activities and experiences. It may be necessary to attend to the personal needs of the pupils and implement related personal programmes including communication, interaction, social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
The successful candidate will:
• Have experience of working with children with special education needs; communication and interaction; or experience of working with children with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
• Enhance and develop the interaction and communication needs of the pupil. Be an integral part of the Early Years’ team and will report to the class teacher about pupil problems, progress and achievements.
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils. Have strong communication skills and establish good relationships with both the EYFS staff team and the pupil’s parents.
• Work as part of a hard working team and be an effective team player.
• Be highly passionate in their work with good organisational skills.
