We are looking to appoint a Whole-time Consultant plastic Surgeon with a special interest in burns management at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will primarily be based at the Northern General Hospital but will also work at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Sheffield Children's Hospital.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of general Plastic Surgery and Burns management practice to enable the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust to fulfil its service agreements with Sheffield Health and other commissioners.

Qualifications
Essential
* Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
* Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview.
* Completed specialist fellowship training in Burns.
* If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
Desirable
* MD or PhD or equivalent.
Clinical experience
Essential
* Broad experience in the generality of Plastic Surgery with a particular emphasis on burns and skin cancer management.
* Needs to have current Safeguarding Child/Adult competencies, paediatric burns experience/competencies.
* Good knowledge of modern surgical techniques including the use of skin substitutes and reconstruction techniques.
Desirable
* Experience in SLNB for malignant melanoma.
* Experience of complex soft tissue reconstruction including chest, abdominal wall or perineal reconstruction.
Research
Essential
* Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate.

* Publications in peer-reviewed journals.

* Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels.
