Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business and currently has over 350 employees spanning 6 UK sites. The group’s activities include UK haulage and storage, frozen food production and co-packing solutions. We are looking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Transport Planner at our Ambergate depot, DE56 2JR. You will be responsible for efficiently planning a fleet of 70 arctic vehicles, making sure profitability is maximised and resource is utilised effectively across our multiple depots. You will be working in a fast paced, supported environment and will have the opportunity to own the planning of the arctic fleet. Previous experience or experience of a similar role is essential. Strong transport and geographical knowledge is a must. We want you to be motivated and able to work on your own initiative. Working hours: Week-day shift pattern between 06:00 and 18:00. Weekend overtime work available. Salary : Up to £40,000 (skills and experience dependant) You will report to the Transport Planning Manager, key responsibilities are as follows: Planning of work for the arctic fleet (70 vehicles) Promote efficiencies within the entire fleet of vehicles Working closely with the transport office team – any work which does not fit our vehicle profile must be highlighted and an alternative solution found Re-planning of work when loads are adjusted/changed along with adjusting loading times Re-planning of work in the event of driver absences Updating traffic systems throughout the shift Notifying drivers of changes Brief/de-brief drivers Other general office duties i.e. dealing with incoming telephone queries, filing and dealing with any associated queries Requirements Proactive with the ability to prioritise workload to meet the needs of the customer and business Logistics knowledge and traffic office experience Ability to use a TMS system Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner To demonstrate a proactive approach and ability to work both in a team and individual environment Excellent customer service skills Applicants will also need a full UK driving licence and checkable references Ability to work within an extended team, constant communication between multiple depots Must be able to perform under pressure and look for proactive solutions for volatility
