Job Summary The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts to exact specifications. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have experience in precision engineering and be able to interpret complex engineering drawings. Key Responsibilities Set up and Operate CNC Machines : Operate CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines to produce high-precision parts according to work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings. Programming and Adjustments : Use G-code and other CNC programming languages to set up machines for new parts; make necessary adjustments to machine settings as required. Quality Control : Inspect finished products using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to ensure they meet strict tolerances and specifications. Machine Maintenance : Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor. Process Optimization : Suggest improvements for machining processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality. Documentation : Complete detailed job and production reports, including time, material, and quality data. Health & Safety : Comply with all company health and safety policies, ensuring a safe and clean workspace at all times. Skills & Qualifications Education : Certificate or diploma in Precision Engineering, Machining, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience : Minimum of 3 years of experience operating CNC machines in a precision engineering environment. Technical Skills : Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. Strong understanding of CNC programming (experience with [specific software, e.g., FANUC, Siemens, HAAS, or Mastercam] is a plus). Familiarity with G-code, M-code, and other relevant programming languages. Knowledge of various materials and their properties, especially metals used in precision engineering. Attention to Detail : Ability to work to tight tolerances and specifications, with a focus on quality and precision. Problem-Solving : Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving machining issues independently. Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to [weight, e.g., 25 kg] safely. Team Player : Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
