Job Title: Garment Technologist

Job Summary:
The Garment Technologist works closely with designers, pattern cutters, manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure that garments are produced to fit the original design specifications. They are responsible for the technical aspects of garment production, including fabric testing, construction methods, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with designers and pattern makers to understand garment construction and specifications.
* Create and manage detailed technical packs (tech packs) outlining garment measurements, materials, and construction details.
* Oversee the fit and quality of samples during the development phase and make adjustments as needed.
* Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure fabric quality, stitching, and construction meet required standards.
* Conduct fabric and garment testing, including shrinkage, color fastness, and wearability tests, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
* Ensure all garments are correctly graded for different sizes.
* Implement and maintain quality control processes, including garment inspections during production.
* Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during the garment production process.
* Work with the design and production teams to ensure timely delivery of products and resolve any technical issues quickly.
* Ensure all production is completed in line with ethical and sustainability guidelines (if applicable).
* Stay updated on the latest garment technology, production methods, and industry regulations.
Skills and Experience:
* Degree in Fashion Technology, Garment Technology, or a related field.
* Experience working as a Garment Technologist in fashion or apparel production.
* Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and manufacturing processes.
* Ability to create and interpret technical packs.
* Excellent attention to detail, particularly with fit and finish of garments.
* Strong communication skills to work with designers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
* Problem-solving skills to handle technical issues in production.
* Knowledge of garment grading and sizing.
* Familiarity with garment testing procedures and quality standards.
* Experience with CAD or pattern-making software.
* Knowledge of sustainable fashion practices and ethical production standards.
