Role overview: Control and overall responsibility for all GSK Stevenage Legionella and water systems including cooling towers. Ensuring they are operated, maintained, diagnosed, and repaired to the appropriate statutory, regulatory and GSK standards, reporting any equipment or performance issues to the EMCOR Site Lead and GSK Customer. Provide technical operational oversight of all site-based water activity to ensure the highest levels of service delivery against latest statutory, regulatory and GSK standards. Implementation and updating of Written Scheme of Control. Consulting with Client Duty Holder and Responsible Person to ensure the Written Scheme of Control is suitable and sufficient. Develop, introduce, and maintain water system operating instructions and related documents (e.g., SOP’s and logbooks) that define the site water safety program. Liaison with Area Team Leaders to ensure compliance, correct procedures and competency is maintained for water system engineers. Provide water subject matter expertise through deviation investigation, participation with RCA activities and the setting and delivery of CAPAs. Work in conjunction with the drawings office to control and maintain water drawings, procedures and certificates as required by EMCOR and GSK. Analyse complex systems where required to understand faults and performance limitations and make recommendations to address short-falls and deliver improvements. Control and maintenance of water drawings, procedures, logbooks, and certificates as required by EMCOR and GSK. Provide EMCOR technical expertise for the design, installation, testing and commissioning of all site-based water systems. This includes the setting of appropriate maintenance and spares requirements and associated hand over procedures. Proactive engagement in LCAM system reviews ensuring continuous improvement of systems under your control. Ensure risks are appropriately documented and managed via EMCOR/GSK systems. Scheduling and completing investigations into plant failure, breech of operating or maintenance procedures. Provide control and assume overall responsibility for compliant Legionella delivery, ensuring the EMCOR site lead and GSK technical lead is kept informed of status and performance of equipment, this includes: Chairing weekly and monthly Water meeting with the client to update them on status and planning for inspections, faults, and performance. The implementation and updating of Water Written Scheme and Risk assessments, consulting regularly with Client Duty Holder and Responsible person to ensure WS&RA delivers against statutory requirements. Data integrity in EAM/CAFM systems is reviewed and meets or exceeds statutory requirements. Perform routine management monitoring to measure site program effectiveness. In conjunction with WREF Technical Leads, set, support and deliver professional mechanical engineering standards, training requirements, competency standards (Knowledge, Skills & Experience) and support competency assessment delivery, where required. ‘Horizon scan’ authoritative sources (e.g., government publications, industry professional standards and EMCOR Compliance) to ensure EMCOR comply with the latest statutory and regulatory standards. Person Specification Qualified to at least HNC level in mechanical, building services, or related field. Degree (or equivalent time served) in mechanical, building services, or related field (Desirable). Work towards and / or maintain Chartered status (Desirable). Meaningful post-graduate working experience in a commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing or development environment or design organisation / consultancy working for clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Hold a City & Guilds Control of Legionella Within Water Systems and Evaporative Cooling Systems qualification. In-depth knowledge of ACOP Legionnaires' disease the control of legionella bacteria in water systems and HSG 274 Parts 1, 2 & 3. Knowledge of Sections 2,3 & 4 Health & Safety at Work Act etc 1974. In-depth technical and operational knowledge of cooling tower operation and design. In-depth technical and operational knowledge of Specialist water systems including Reverse Osmosis, Sterile water and water waste. Hold or be working towards a relevant safety qualification, e.g. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent. Experience in project management including managing sub-contractor works programmes, large install and testing programme reporting. Undertake training reviews / gain certification for any duties required to fulfil the role.
