We are a small, friendly and ambitious local authority. Adult Social Care is important to the Council and has benefitted from considerable investment. We’d love to hear from candidates who share our commitment to co-production, Independent Living and relationship-based practice, ‘Doing things with residents not to them’ is a key Council priority. We use the social model of disability to frame our approach, and we are proud to work in ways that promote human rights, equality and inclusion. We are developing our practice model and ways of working and would love to hear from social workers and occupational therapists who want to be part of our transformation.
There’s a lot of other great work going on in Adult Social Care. We are proud to be the only local authority in England to have abolished charging for support at home and in the community.
We are committed to high quality leadership, management and supervision and valuing our staff through ongoing career development. We value our staff, and your wellbeing is important - we have hybrid working, regular ASC staff forums and staff groups across the council e.g. disability and EDI groups and will be introducing Wellbeing days for Social Worker posts. We offer free tea and coffee in all our offices and local/national discounts for staff.
