Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the smooth operation and upkeep of our commercial site in Blackburn. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach and be committed to ensuring that all maintenance tasks are performed to the highest standard. The Maintenance Assistant will play a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and clean environment for all site occupants.
Key Responsibilities:
* General Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and repairs on facilities, fixtures, and equipment to ensure they are safe and operational.
* Basic Repairs: Conduct minor repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, and other building components, as needed.
* Cleaning & Upkeep: Assist with cleaning tasks to maintain an orderly and sanitary environment within the building.
* Preventative Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance activities and ensure that issues are identified and addressed before they become significant problems.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety protocols and ensure that any maintenance work meets all regulatory standards.
* Support Tasks: Assist with setup for events or rearrangement of furniture, as required by the building occupants.
* Reporting: Document completed maintenance tasks and report larger issues to the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience: Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or facilities assistant role is preferred.
* Skills: Basic knowledge of building systems, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair skills.
* Certification (Preferred): Basic certifications in health & safety, such as First Aid or Electrical Safety, are a plus.
* Physical Ability: Capable of lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and performing physically demanding tasks.
