The Role
We are recruiting highly motivated, enthusiastic and professional undergraduate pharmacy students who are able to work on summer placement out with term time, to meet the needs of the service.
We have a number of placements available. You will have an opportunity to work with our pharmacy teams to provide high quality care in either hospital or primary care based with GP practices. You will also have the chance to support project work.
The objectives of the team in primary care are to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of prescribing and medicines use for patients across NHSL. You will be predominately updating patient medication records following discharge from hospital for a cluster of GP practices. You will be required to work closely with your pharmacist and technician colleagues, GP practice staff, community pharmacists, care home staff, members of the primary healthcare multi-disciplinary team and central team colleagues in supporting the development and application of high quality, safe, cost effective, rational and evidence based prescribing in the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).
A Pharmacy Support Worker (Primary Care) has a vital role in helping NHS Lanarkshire deliver its Primary Care Pharmacotherapy Services; ensuring safe and effective use of medicines.
This post will assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians by undertaking routine tasks. Some of these tasks may require a moderate degree of technical expertise. You will also be required to discuss the use of medicines over the phone with patients and other pharmacy staff.

Please note this is a fixed term 4-6 Weeks. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Please note: If a part-time post is accepted then the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Acute hospital pharmacy departments within NHS Lanarkshire Wide.
