Job Summary Responsible for the development, support and delivery of Farmers audit strategy and plan, and operating model, to provide independent and objective assurance that risks across Farmers are effectively controlled. Develops and conveys the vision and direction of Internal Audit. Counsels with and provides professional guidance to audit staff; develops schedules, and implements audit programs and procedures; directs and administers internal auditing activities in accordance with the standards for the professional practice of Internal Auditing. Develops and conveys the vision and direction of Internal Auditing to staff. • Establish standards of audit performance and measures performance through engagement level evaluations of Internal Audit staff. • Maintain and develop a professional staff capable of performing financial and operational reviews, maintaining the highest quality of work. • Prepare, maintain, and periodically update a risk assessment of all Farmers operations, using the breadth and depth of business knowledge; develop and maintain an effective annual audit schedule. • Responsible for the development of Talent Management Strategy, as well as Career Management of selected members of the audit team, including coaching, recruiting, rotational programs, developing skills, counselling, and preparing high quality individual development plans that align with the overall people strategy for Internal Audit. • Counsels and guides staff supervised to see that audit objectives are met and that adequate and practical coverage is achieved. • Directs and approves the risk analysis, audit scope, objectives, schedule, and budget for audit assignments. Audit assignments include financial and operational audits, investigations, and special projects. • Direct and/or deliver special projects as they arise, such as high level management reviews, regulatory investigations, and other special, often sensitive assignments, at the request of Boards or Audit Committees. • Play a major role in relationship management meetings with key members of Farmers Executive Management, to ensure Internal Audit services address the business’ needs. • Support Integrated Assurance Committee, to ensure risks facing the companies are actively managed. • Active in the development of materials, and presentation of key issues to the Farmers Audit and Risk & Control Committees. • Stay current with changes in the industry and analyze the impact of those changes on the business. • Assist in the preparation, maintenance and monitoring of the departmental budget. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Meet with external audit partners to discuss, audit strategy and plan, review risks, and form reliance on work.
