Here at Serco, we are looking for a Communications Manager to lead internal and external communication strategies to support the Sandwell Environmental Services contract.
You will manage a team of two Environmental Social Value Officers, focusing on high-quality communication and behaviour change strategies to meet organisational objectives. This includes creating and launching campaigns to drive behavioural change and ensuring that all communication materials meet the high standards of the contract.
In collaboration with the Senior Contract Manager, the Communications Manager will contribute to meeting contractual obligations and KPIs by designing and delivering effective communication for services delivered by the contract.
You will also actively promote contract successes to enhance business reputation and support growth by identifying and showcasing achievements internally and externally.
Your main responsibilities:
- Bringing the Annual Communications Plan to life – devise and manage the timely delivery of communications and behaviour change campaigns across multiple channels on behalf of the local Authority partner.
- Continually assess communications tools and channels to identify and implement innovative and creative forms of communications that will appeal to new and changing target audiences.
- Design, project manage and execute ‘Contract Strategic Communications Activities’
- Develop and maintain a network of relationships with a range of stakeholders that enable the successful creation and delivery of bespoke communication strategies for both external and internal use.
- Quality control of all other contractually required reports and presentations.
- Manage the annual budget to deliver external communication projects in line with local authority partner strategy and objectives.
- Manage relationship, deliverables and KPI’s with our key environmental partner responsible for delivering the school education programme on behalf of the Serco and Sandwell Council waste partnership.
- Seek to develop relationships with new third sector originations and businesses to provide innovative environmentally focused community engagement initiatives.
- Support business growth by proactively sharing evidence of successes on contract to a range of internal departments and external platforms.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- A strong background in Communications or Marketing, ideally working as a Communications Manager, Marketing Manager or similar. An understanding of the waste industry and/or working with in a Local Authority is desirable.
- Experience in the design and execution of behaviour change strategies.
- Experience in the design and delivery of campaigns, digital and print.
- Experience implementing communications/marketing frameworks, including tracking, and measuring success.
- Excellent report writing skills, and copy-writing skills for digital media and print content.
- Highly proficient in the use of the full Microsoft suite.
- Project management experience and an interest in environmental sustainability and/or public is desirable.
- Event management and/or in-person outreach experience would be desirable.
