The Post of Fellow in Paediatric Simulation and Paediatric Intensive Care
It is anticipated that the post would be held for one year. It combines delivering simulation education as part of the UHBW with clinical duties in Paediatric Intensive Care and provides opportunities to gain a medical education qualification from the University of Bristol and undertake simulation-based research.
Main duties of the job
Role of the Paediatric Simulation Fellow
It is recognised that many candidates will come to the post with a number of pre-existing skills and every effort will be made to complement these skills by flexible application of the training component of the post. Previous experience of simulation education, though helpful, is not essential.
Though it should be emphasised that the list is not exhaustive and represents the minimum level of skill, which we hope successful candidates will attain. It is anticipated that by the end of the year the UHBW Simulation fellow will be able to confidently plan, develop, deliver and critically evaluate a blended learning approach including simulation education. You will be expected to assimilate the following Simulation/Educational knowledge and skills.
During the performance of your simulation duties, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering the education under the supervision and direction of the UHBW co-chair and simulation champions and the Paediatric Simulation Co-ordinators. As part of the team, you will design and facilitate simulation education in paediatrics throughout the trust. These events range from practical skill-based simulation with Medical and Nursing learners (point of care simulation-based education) to highly immersive Human Factors Team training.
