The Housekeeper will support the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of high quality care to patients and families. Duties include general housekeeping, overseeing ward/department cleanliness, overseeing maintenance monitoring, ordering stock, ensuring a safe and tidy working and patient environment including clinical areas and any other related duties at the discretion of the ward/department manager.
Main duties of the job
1. To contribute to the day-to-day housekeeping requirements of the whole ward ensuring that it is clean and tidy and that a safe environment is provided for the patients and their families. Tasks include raising queries in relation to restocking of all clinical areas and stocking of laundry, cleaning of equipment, defrosting of fridges, freezers, etc.
2. To manage ordering and stock rotation of all consumables for the unit.
3. To keep the unit clutter free.
4. Daily cleaning of equipment.
5. To provide an initial tidy of the patient areas.
6. To raise queries in relation to the provision of cleaning services.
7. The housekeeper will have delegated responsibility under supervision of the Ward Manager/Service Manager for the sourcing of clinical kit and consumables.
8. To assist with providing refreshments as required to patients.
9. To be aware of financial stock management and make effective use of resources, stock rotation.
10. Report damaged/faulty equipment to the service provider, ensuring that all medical devices are decontaminated in accordance with Trust Policy.
11. Undertake tasks relevant to role and patient care need, as follows:
12. Make safe and clean spillage, including body fluids.
13. Changing of medical gas cylinders on the unit, using appropriate methods of work.
14. Assist and take direction in the event of any fire/major accident or incident.
