About The Role
Compass provides Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in education settings across Derby & Derbyshire. We are recruiting 8 trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) to deliver evidence-based, high-quality and responsive services to meet the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of children, young people and families (CYPF) in the across the city and county. These are highly sought after roles and candidates thinking of applying will need to be available to commence in the role by 2 nd January 2025.
University
Trainee EMHPs will undertake a year in supported study at Derby University which will be delivered face-to-face. Trainee EMHP’s must undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice in Education Settings, a degree Level 7 qualification. During the training year trainee EMHPS will work within the service delivering interventions to CYPF and education settings whilst also balancing university timetable and requirements.
You will be trained to deliver short term low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) informed interventions for CYP aged 5 -19 years with anxiety, low mood, family and peer relationship difficulties, difficulty adjusting to change or managing emotions in educational settings.
On successful completion of training, Trainee EMHP’s will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and capabilities and work as a qualified EMHP
About You
You will be a values-driven (integrity, valuing each individual, solution focused, consistent and reliable) individual with a passion for supporting CYP’s mental health and wellbeing. You will also have:
* Degree or the ability to study at degree level.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Children, Young People and Families.
* Ability to study as a self-motivated learner who can formulate their own progress towards learning objectives and negotiate pathways to achievement with supervisory teams.
Due to the nature of the role there is a need to travel to individual schools, which will require a driving license and access to a vehicle (for individuals who cannot drive due to a disability, we can consider accessibility options i.e. provided via Access to Work etc).
