About the Team: The Trusts and Tax team works closely with clients to handle their personal tax affairs and the administration of trusts. They alleviate the stress of compliance, including preparing annual accounts, completing tax returns, and managing day-to-day requests from beneficiaries. The team also supports clients with more complex needs, including those handled by the Court of Protection team.
The Role: We’re looking for a skilled Tax Accountant to provide proactive taxation advice and support across personal tax, estate, and trust matters. You’ll work with private clients, executors, and trustees, delivering exceptional service and technical expertise.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing tax returns for private clients, including 60-day capital gains tax returns for residential property disposals.
* Advising clients on income tax, capital gains tax, and tax planning strategies.
* Calculating tax liabilities and guiding clients through the self-assessment process.
* Preparing estate accounts, managing administration period tax, and finalising deceased individuals’ lifetime tax affairs.
* Advising on stamp duty land tax and supporting clients with inheritance tax forms for trusts.
* Collaborating with the French Property team on tax matters for UK individuals with overseas assets.
* Providing tax advice to lawyers across all departments and promoting the firm’s Trusts and Tax service.
* Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
What We’re Looking For: To excel in this role, you’ll need:
* ATT, ACA, ACCA, or TEP qualifications.
* Extensive experience in tax and trust accounting, including complex estates and overseas domiciles.
* In-depth knowledge of UK taxation for individuals, estates, and trusts.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
