Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Key Stage 3 Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 subjects focusing on Humanities, ensuring that all students make optimal progress in line with their abilities and the curriculum. The role requires effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of lessons that inspire and support students’ learning journeys. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of their subject area and employ innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Curriculum Delivery & Planning: Design and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons tailored to Key Stage 3 students, ensuring alignment with the school’s curriculum and long-term educational objectives. Adapt teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning needs, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all students.
· Subject Expertise: Exhibit deep knowledge of the subject area and a passion for delivering lessons that stimulate curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Ensure students grasp key concepts and develop critical thinking skills relevant to their subject.
· Pupil Engagement & Differentiation: Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages active participation and fosters a love of learning. Differentiate instruction to meet the varied abilities and learning styles of students, providing appropriate support and challenge.
· Assessment & Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor student progress, using data-driven insights to inform teaching strategies. Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress effectively with parents and guardians.
· Challenge & High Expectations: Set high academic expectations, motivating students to strive for excellence in their studies. Encourage students to develop resilience, confidence, and independence in their learning.
· Real-World Applications: Ensure students understand the relevance of their learning by making connections to real-world applications and cross-curricular links. Foster skills that prepare students for further academic challenges and life beyond school.
· Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment, ensuring high standards of behaviour and discipline. Establish clear expectations and routines to create a structured and supportive learning space.
Professional Development & Collaboration:
* Team Collaboration: Engage in collaborative planning and professional discussions with colleagues and external professionals to drive pupil development and improve curriculum outcomes.
* Continuous Professional Development: Participate actively in the school’s Performance, Review, and Development (PRD) procedures, undertaking regular professional development to refine teaching practices and advance pedagogical expertise.
* Extra-Curricular Contribution: Actively contribute to the wider school community through participation in extra-curricular mathematics activities, enriching students’ learning experiences beyond the classroom.
* Communication: Establish and maintain strong lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues, ensuring transparency and effective feedback regarding progress and development.
* Professional Relationships: Cultivate positive, supportive, and professional relationships with staff, fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Form Tutor: Take on the responsibility of form tutor, overseeing the academic, pastoral, and well-being needs of assigned students, including the management of Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
* Cover & Supervision: In cases of unforeseen absence, provide cover for other staff as needed, ensuring the continuity of learning.
* School Community Engagement: Make a positive contribution to the ethos, values, and overall success of the school, engaging actively in school-wide initiatives.
* Support Staff Supervision: Effectively direct and supervise assigned support staff and, where appropriate, fellow teaching colleagues, ensuring that they are aligned with teaching objectives.
* Resource Management: Manage allocated budgets efficiently, ensuring resources are deployed to support student progress and achievement.
* Adherence to Policies: Abide by the school’s policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of professionalism, attendance, and punctuality.
