We are looking for a HCPC registered Band 6 occupational therapist to join us in Ward 7 Stroke Rehabilitation within Queen Margaret Hospital. Ward 7 is an inter-disciplinary ward providing inpatient stroke rehabilitation to predominantly older adults.
Queen Margaret is within commutable distance from Edinburgh with a local train station within 5-minute walk. We pride ourselves on delivering evidence-based stroke rehabilitation including functional skills training, movement re-education, cognitive rehabilitation and postural management.
You will be joining an established therapy team comprising of Physiotherapy, Band 5 Occupational Therapist and Band 4 Advanced Practitioner. You will have responsibility for the assessment, rehabilitation and discharge of stroke patients admitted from the acute setting. You will work alongside your occupational therapy and multi-disciplinary team colleagues in helping patients and their families to achieve meaningful outcomes.
You will have a special interest in stroke rehabilitation and skills in this area would be advantageous. Experience in managing complex conditions and discharge planning is essential.
You will be given ample opportunities to contribute to and lead some aspects of service development in line with the Progressive Stroke Pathway. You will have responsibility for supervision staff and an expectation to support students on placement.
