Personal Assistant required to support male aged 6 years who lives in Newton Aycliffe.
The young person is autistic and nonspeaking. They require support to access the community during school holidays. The young person enjoys activities such as going to the park, visiting museums like Locomotion and Hopetown, soft play, swimming, and trampolining. They also enjoy car, bus, and train rides, visits to the seaside when the weather permits, sensory rooms, and small, relaxed group activities with other SEND children.
Hours / Wage
6 hours per week during school holidays, £12 per hour (up to £15 per hour if self-employed). Wages will increase in line with minimum wage increases in April 2025.
The young person requires 6 hours per week during school holidays, between the hours of 8am and 2pm on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday.
Duties
Duties include helping the young person access the community. The young person is fully incontinent and requires support with all aspects of personal care. Preparation of light meals such as cheese sandwiches, chicken nuggets, chips, and pizza is also required.
Additional Requirements/Information
Experience with SEND children, specifically autistic children and those with learning disabilities and anxiety, is not required but desirable. Basic knowledge around Makaton, visual supports, and AAC devices is also desirable.
Driver’s licence and own car are essential. Due to the young person’s anxiety, care might occasionally be required within your or their own home.
