Description
The Mobile Library Driver (Grade 5) plays a vital role in promoting literacy and providing access to a wealth of resources to communities in our region. This position combines the passion for reading with the joy of driving to bring the library experience directly to neighborhoods, schools, and community centers. As a Mobile Library Driver, you will operate a library vehicle, ensuring the timely delivery and collection of library materials while maximizing outreach efforts to underserved populations. You will assist in curating a diverse selection of books and resources tailored to the needs of various age groups and demographics. Your responsibilities will extend beyond driving; you will engage with community members, promote library programs, and encourage participation in literacy initiatives. A commitment to fostering a love of reading and lifelong learning is essential. In this role, you will collaborate with library staff to organize events, maintain inventory, and ensure the mobile library is a welcoming environment for all. While serving as an ambassador for the library, you will help to shape the reading habits of future generations, making this position both rewarding and impactful in the community.
Responsibilities
Drive the mobile library vehicle to designated locations within the community.
Set up and dismantle the mobile library at various stops, ensuring a welcoming environment.
Assist patrons with inquiries about library services, resources, and programs.
Maintain an accurate inventory of library materials and resources on the vehicle.
Implement and promote literacy programs and events during mobile visits.
Collaborate with library staff to develop outreach strategies for underserved populations.
Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and stocked with appropriate materials for all ages and interests.
Requirements
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in library sciences or related fields is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse community members.
Ability to lift and move library materials and equipment as needed.
Basic technical skills to operate library software and digital resources.
Organizational skills to manage inventory and schedule mobile library routes effectively.
A passion for promoting reading, literacy, and community engagement.

End Time: 16:30
Pay Per Hour: £13.47
