Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
Arup’s expertise in the structure and behaviour of ground conditions helps us to find solutions for our clients in built and natural environments. Our team are leaders in Geotechnics working on a diverse range of projects from building design to infrastructure for water, energy, mining, rail, highways and aviation. Wherever difficult ground conditions, sensitive environments or ambitious projects present geotechnical challenges, we provide robust and advanced solutions.
The Opportunity
Working within the Ground Engineering team, you will use your existing technical and professional skills to direct others in interpreting and characterising the ground, geotechnical analysis, report writing and production of drawings and specifications, to deliver projects across a range of markets and sectors. This role requires a good appreciation of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering and their application in the built environment with the critical thinking skills to assess the buildability of the designs you prepare.
This role is based from Southampton, from where you'll also work with colleagues in our Cardiff and Bristol offices, as well as the wider UK on a hybrid basis.
Is this role right for you?

* Preparing geotechnical documents such as desk studies, interpretative reports, and specifications;
