Working as a key member of the Roads and Transportation Service, you will assist the Roads Network Manager in delivering one of the key functions of the service.
You will be responsible for the leadership of day-to-day activities in Road Safety and Traffic Management within the Network service.
Directly reporting to the Roads Network Manager, you will assist in delivering effective service provision and communication while promoting positive teamwork within your functional area.
As the leader of the Road Safety and Traffic Management Team, you will oversee all aspects of the council’s road safety policy, planning, and engineering scheme planning. You will also lead traffic management and parking issues, including the council’s scheme for Disabled Persons’ Parking Places. This is a senior role within the service and has a high profile with customers and elected members.
Applicants are required to be registered with the Engineering Council to at least Incorporated Engineer level (or possess equivalent relevant experience) and be a member of a relevant professional institution. You also need extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in road safety engineering and traffic management, well-developed writing and communication skills, project management skills, and database management skills.
Although not essential, a formal qualification in Road Safety Engineering (e.g., RoSPA) and experience in managing a team are desirable.
