Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Ecologist to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will support various ecological projects, contributing to field surveys, data analysis, and reporting. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop their skills and gain valuable experience in ecological consultancy early in their career.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in conducting ecological surveys, including but not limited to Phase 1 habitat surveys, protected species surveying (e.g., bats, amphibians, reptiles, birds), Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, and environmental impact assessments.
2. Work closely with our colleagues in our landscape architecture and arboricultural team to provide high-quality advice on projects.
3. Produce high-quality reports for submission with planning applications.
4. Provide support to senior ecologists and project managers in the planning and execution of ecological projects.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an Environmental Science subject, or demonstration of relevant alternative experience.
2. Practical experience in conducting ecological fieldwork and surveys is advantageous but not essential.
3. Full clean driving licence and own car to drive long distances for work.
4. Ability to stay away from home for short periods (1-2 nights) for work throughout the UK (hotel expenses all paid for).
5. Ability to work in a team and possess excellent communication skills.
