Our Client is one of the fastest growing precision engineering and manufacturing companies in the UK, specialising in the design, manufacture, and assembly of precision engineered parts, components, and devices.
Primary Purpose: Weld and fabricate thin gauge items from different materials working in collaboration with the Welding team leader, Production Engineering, and the Quality Department.
Shift: Rotational - Monday to Friday 06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 22:00.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform welding operations using various techniques.
2. Prepare metal materials for fabrication and welding.
3. Ensure orders are completed to the correct standard, within budget and on time to meet the company Quality Objectives.
4. Work from customer drawings and specifications to produce parts in accordance with the Quality - Code of Practice.
5. Inspect parts following the Checking/Inspection Process.
6. Ensure works orders are correctly opened and closed on the company’s computerised system - ProgressPlus.
7. Actively monitor working practices and provide feedback to improve efficiencies and job profitability.
8. Ensure adherence to Health and Safety standards, and environmental regulations in compliance with the Company policy to ensure a safe working environment.
9. Maintain a clean and manageable work area ensuring that housekeeping standards are maintained in accordance with the Company Code of Conduct.
10. Comply with the company Environmental and Recycling policy.
11. Undertake any additional duties as required.
Person Specification
Skills:
1. Good capabilities in TIG & MIG welding and fabrication of light gauge materials (1-3mm s/s, m/s, alu).
2. Good practical skills in sanding and dressing of fabricated items to high standards.
3. Ability to read and fully understand engineering drawings and tolerances.
4. Good knowledge of booking on and off of jobs using MRP system.
5. Tidy and methodical in your approach to tasks.
6. Information Technology capabilities to include MS Word and Excel (advantageous).
7. Able to work well within a team, demonstrating willingness and flexibility as required.
Knowledge Requirements:
1. Good appreciation of Engineering Quality requirements.
2. Good understanding of modern welding sets.
3. Computerisation in a workplace.
4. Minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Welding or City & Guilds certification.
