The main purpose of the role is to operate CNC machine tools in the manufacturing department, specifically in Screw Compressor Casing manufacturing. This includes horizontal boring, vertical boring, drilling, and marking off. Howden have MAG and Mitsui equipment with Fanuc control systems.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
* Manufacture compressor components to Engineering drawings and specifications to ensure successful first-time build and test of finished compressors.
* Adhere to all relevant instructions contained within Work Standard Instructions (WSI’s) in the manufacture of Compressor components.
* Conform to all aspects of HCO’s Quality Management System including the fulfilment of all relevant procedures etc. including all Standard Practice Instructions (SPI’s).
* Deliver quality components in a timely manner whilst contributing to efficient and effective manufacturing principles.
* Contribute and comply with accurate collation of Shop Floor Documentation information including data contained within HCO’s Shop Floor Data Collection system (SFDC).
* Provide training support for Apprentices and work colleagues to help improve skill levels.
* Interact and respond to all aspects of HBE supporting cost reduction, efficiency, delivery, and quality improvements.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in compliance with company policy to ensure a safe working environment.

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours
* Recognised Engineering apprenticeship and relevant qualifications.
* Previous experience with precision manufacturing.
* Using measuring equipment to tight tolerance.
* Engineering Drawing interpretation ability.
* Experienced in multi-disciplined CNC machining - Boring, Milling, Drilling.
* Flexibility.
* Lean Manufacturing Skills.
* Lifting & Slinging certification.
* Previous experience in rotating equipment.
* General Environmental Health & Safety awareness.
This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week with a starting salary of £33,500. You will also have the opportunity to earn shift allowance with the team currently operating a three-shift rotating structure with a rate of x1.33, consisting of early shift (6am-2pm), back shift (2pm-10pm), and night shift (10pm-6am), Sunday Night - Friday Early. Additional overtime available out with the standard shift pattern (All overtime at 1.5).
