The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for all aspects of Engineering & Maintenance at Beddington ERF, in collaboration with the Central Engineering & Maintenance Team. The goal is to ensure optimal long-term availability of the plant, to preserve the value of the assets, and to comply with environmental health and safety requirements while ensuring financial targets are met within the Engineering & Maintenance department.
The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for efficient planning and execution of maintenance activities associated with the ERF plant, including planned and unplanned maintenance periods.
The Engineering & Maintenance Manager will be primarily focused on:
1. Safety and Work Management: Deliver a robust and efficient asset management system.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Oversee the Engineering & Maintenance team, managing direct reports' contractual hours of work on a monthly and annual basis.
3. Overall Responsibility: Oversee and manage all aspects of planned and reactive maintenance.
4. Compliance: Maintain Beddington ERF to the appropriate legislation as well as Company requirements.
5. Budget Management: Manage OPEX and lifecycle CAPEX associated with maintaining the plant.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with the Operations Manager to deliver robust Engineering & Maintenance solutions to maximize availability, reliability, and throughput.
7. Management of Change: Manage changes in relation to all plant modifications.
8. Availability and Value Preservation: Ensure optimal long-term availability and preserve the value of the facility within the approved budget.
9. Maintenance and Repair Activities: Oversee all maintenance and repair activities during planned or unplanned shutdowns.
10. Statutory Inspections: Manage statutory inspections ensuring all documentation is completed and up to date.
11. CMMS Utilization: Ensure the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is utilized to its full potential.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Oversee plant modifications in line with the Engineering & Maintenance Change Management procedure.
2. Ensure all activities within the ERF plant are carried out safely in line with Viridor policies and health, safety, and environmental statutory requirements.
3. Control a Safe System of Working to ensure activities are carried out safely, including staff and contractors.
4. Participate in continual personal development to achieve improved performance and promote flexible team working.
5. Conduct regular team meetings to ensure good communication and encourage team involvement in decision-making processes.
You must remain aware of your responsibilities for your own Health and Safety, for the Health and Safety of those directly responsible to you, your work colleagues, and any others affected by operations under your responsibility or control. You must adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, EMS System, IMS System, Management Guide, and any financial/accounting systems.
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Knowledge of maintenance and upkeep of pressure systems, steam turbines, electrical systems, and associated machinery and equipment.
2. Understanding of safe systems of work (plant isolations and safety systems).
3. Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance Systems.
4. Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems upkeep and maintenance (Valmet, Siemens, etc.).
5. Effective team building and motivation skills.
6. Knowledge of LV & HV electrical systems.
7. Experience of health, safety, and environment legislation relevant to the process or power industry.
8. Experience in working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
9. Experience in leading teams and contractors to deliver agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Qualifications:
1. Possess appropriate Engineering & Maintenance qualifications at Degree / HND level (or equivalent).
2. Appropriate skills and experience of CDM outage projects within the power industry.
3. Formal H&S qualifications.
4. Full, clean driving licence.
5. HV authorization.
