Job Description
As a Senior 3D Generalist, you will be responsible for modelling and animating virtual worlds, characters, product visualisations, and more. You will work with a team of other 3D Artists, designers and developers who build outstanding Augmented and Virtual Reality experiences.
You must be well versed with industry standard 3D modelling programs and tools, as well as optimising assets for real time environments. Good spatial-thinking skills, ability to switch between contexts and projects, and a well honed sense of design will help you succeed in this job.
Core Responsibilities
* Produce 2D & 3D pre-visualisation concept artwork
* Design, model, rig and animate 3D models and characters that are compatible with web based experiences.
* Iterate on models based on feedback from team members and clients
* Create textures and UV maps; bake in lighting, roughness maps, and AO
* Follow design guidelines, asset naming conventions and other technical constraints
* Optimise and refine model geometry and textures to be web-based AR/VR ready.
* Collaborate with multiple internal creative teams and developers to deliver projects on time
* Keep abreast with the latest developments in 3D design, XR content, modelling tools/pipelines
* Assist in documenting new art production processes.
* Produce 2D animations and motion graphics for use in 3D scenes
* Comfortable working directly with clients in creative ideation sessions
* Support management and technical direction of other 3D Artists in growing team
* Support on production scheduling
Skills / Knowledge Requirements
* An eye for detail and good visualisation skills
* Ability to take in client feedback and make changes as required
* Ability to design, model and animate 3D characters
* Extensive knowledge of character design, rigging, skinning and animation in Maya
* Good familiarity with asset optimization techniques
* Good communication skills
Software Requirements
* Maya (Blender, C4D or Houdini would be a plus)
* Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premier)
* ZBrush or Mudbox
* Redshift & Arnold (other renderers a bonus)
* A basic knowledge of HTML & CSS working in VSCode would be beneficial
Skills / Knowledge Nice-to-Haves
* An understanding of AFrame / three.js / GLTF, Command Line Interface and Python Scripting
* Experience with prompting and iterating on artwork with generative AI creative tools like MidJourney, Tripo, DALLE, Luma.ai
Experience
Minimum 10 years of industry experience in an agency or full time role responsible for 3D modelling, animation, design and character rigging.
Bachelor’s degree in 3D arts, Game design, technical speciality or other relevant training/experience.
