Wide-ranging in-house Head of Legal role, managing an established Legal Team servicing a high profile infrastructure project.

Our Client is the owner operator of a key piece of UK Transport infrastructure.
Description
In collaboration with the General Counsel, you will:
1. Develop and deliver the legal internal and external strategy.
2. Manage internal and external legal advisers and act as primary gatekeeper of legal services, marshalling and interpreting the business need and leading on the delivery of legal team activities including training, governance, good decision making, and processes.
3. Draft, review or supervise the preparation of legal agreements and contracts relating to the Company and its activities, providing comprehensive, accurate, timely and cost-effective legal and regulatory advice and services that add value to the business, including advising on:
- Commercial, construction and infrastructure matters in the context of negotiating and drafting procurement contracts.
- Employment law and oversee the delivery of FOI and data protection matters by relevant team members.
- A range of topics, including general advice on regulatory matters, organisational governance and compliance requirements, and the avoidance and/or management of disputes and litigation.
You will also:
1. Collaborate with the General Counsel, Executive Committee, and colleagues across the business to mitigate legal and commercial project risk.
2. Be responsible for managing and supporting direct reports, including coaching and developing team members to drive individual growth and operational excellence. Lead continuous improvement through regular performance management, ensuring compliance with organisation policies, updating relevant systems, and reviewing monthly spend to maximise value and minimise unnecessary expense.
Profile
The successful candidate will be a Lawyer, qualified in the UK or another Common Law Jurisdiction, with at least 8 years of Post Qualification experience based on the technical and management requirements of this role.
Pre-requisites:
1. Experience of an in-house environment either in an in-house role or experience of working extremely closely with an in-house legal team.
2. Experience of providing legal advice in respect to commercial and construction contracts.
