Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee our warehouse operations and ensure the efficient management of stock and the warehouse management system. The ideal candidate will have a valid forklift license, at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, and a strong background in compliance with SEDEX, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements. Knowledge of health and safety regulations, fire assessment training, and expertise in different types of woods and their storage and protection is essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations
o Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the warehouse.
o Plan jobs and outbound deliveries according to customer requirements.
o Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security within the work environment.
o Oversee traffic management within the warehouse premises.
o Coordinate logistics with the Transport Department and Branch Manager for all inbound and outbound goods.
2. Team Management
o Day-to-day management of Warehouse Operatives, Drivers, and Site Supervisors.
o Train and develop staff, providing support and guidance when necessary.
o Manage team schedules, approve holiday requests, and monitor additional hours.
o Foster a positive working environment and promote teamwork.
3. Compliance and Safety
o Ensure all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
o Conduct and update Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all warehouse activities.
o Maintain compliance with SEDEX, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
o Stay updated on health and safety practices, including fire assessment training.
4. Inventory Management
o Receive and store goods safely in the warehouse.
o Ensure accurate packing and palletizing of products for transport.
o Maintain stock levels of materials and consumables, including critical spares and PPE equipment.
o Carry out quarterly stock takes of all materials and consumables.
5. Wood Product Expertise
o Utilize knowledge of different types of woods and their properties.
o Implement best practices for the storage and protection of wood products.
o Ensure wood products are stored in optimal conditions to prevent damage and deterioration.
o Advise on wood handling procedures to maintain product quality.
6. Communication and Coordination
o Work closely with the Transport Department to ensure timely deliveries.
o Liaise with internal colleagues and access project folders to monitor the status of customer orders.
o Build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
7. Operational Support
o Support the team in producing customer orders accurately, including fabrication tasks such as cutting and drilling.
o Address any reasonable requests from management to support warehouse operations.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
Experience and Certification
o Minimum of 2 years' experience in warehouse supervision or management.
o Valid forklift license.
o Experience with warehouse management systems.
o Familiarity with SEDEX compliance and ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
o Knowledge of health and safety regulations and fire assessment procedures.
o Expertise in different types of woods, including their properties, handling, and storage requirements.
