Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity for 6 years
We are looking for an experienced manager to help us deliver the study support service in the Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) in the East of England. This is a key leadership position delivering critical services across a defined portfolio of specialities and settings. These encompass pre-approval services such as Planning and Placement Service/national cost and attribution tools, as well as post-approval services including portfolio oversight and on-request services.
As a newly formed organisation you would be joining a highly effective team which is building on its successes as the Clinical Research Network. The RDN mission is to enable the health and care system to attract, optimise and deliver research across England. We do this as part of the NIHR’s overall mission to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research.
The post holder’s work base will be either Norwich or in and around the Cambridge Area subject to agreement on appointment.

The role will report into the Study Support Service Senior Manager. Central to the role is the cultivation of a robust knowledge base within the assigned portfolio area, achieved through the establishment of communities of practice with relevant study and delivery teams. The role will also work in collaboration with Regional Specialty and Setting leads.
The key responsibilities of this role will be the delivery of Study Support Services across a defined portfolio of specialities and settings in accordance with nationally defined standards and processes. This will include:
• Pre-Approval Services: planning and placement of research studies, national cost attribution services.
• Post-Approval Services: portfolio delivery oversight
• Leading and participating in national and regional programmes and projects to support research delivery.
You will act as a liaison between a broad range of stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration, communication and alignment of objectives. Working with research delivery sites, you will support their delivery needs, review and evaluate plans to assure appropriate use of RDN funding.
As a main point of contact for Study Sponsors and Research Delivery Organisations, you will provide a consistent and coordinated experience in Study Support Service delivery and proactively support in identifying opportunities for capacity and capability development.
