It's really important to consider that some aspects of healthcare work can be challenging. You will be expected to help patients with personal care and deal with highly emotive circumstances. You will need to be able to communicate sympathetically with patients, and distressed relatives, and care for patients who are very sick.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering high standards of nursing care to ensure a positive patient experience. You need to be compassionate and caring and also need to have excellent communication skills and be prepared to work in a busy and sometimes challenging environment.
We have ward-based Healthcare Support Worker full and part-time roles available across the Trust. You are required to have a flexible approach to work, as you will be required to work both day and night shifts, which will include Bank Holidays and weekend working.
MCHFT provides a full range of local hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester boroughs (population 357K). The Trust provides high quality planned and unplanned/emergency care, cardiac and critical care as well as child health, maternity services, and intermediate care across our sites at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford. The Trust provides 500 beds and employs over 5,000 members of staff.
With the formation of Integrated Care Systems in July 2022, the Trust became a strategic partner in both Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester 'places' and is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside partnership caring for a population of over 2.7 million.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its 'Be Safe Be EquiPPEd' campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE. At Mid Cheshire, our mission is to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust hold a Sponsor Licence. This means that we MAY be able to sponsor you IF the UK Government requirements for sponsorship are met. Not all NHS roles are eligible for sponsorship. To be eligible for sponsorship, the role must be in an eligible occupation code and must meet the minimum salary and skill level.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the entry point (bottom) of the pay band. Experience would be preferable due to the fast pace of the role, however training could be provided for the right applicant.
We operate a 12-hour shift system, covering 7 days a week and rotate on days and nights. Shift times are 7:30am - 8pm, and 7:30pm to 8am.
Please note that recruitment for this role will follow the process below:
Monday 3rd February 2025 - Assessment Centre and Interviews will be held at Infinity House (if you are shortlisted for this role) you will need to be available to attend in person on this date. No remote/teams assessments or interviews will be available due to the face-to-face nature of the role.
