If so, we’d love to hear from you As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with teachers, support staff and SENCO;s to provide personalised assistance to students aged 11 - 18 who face SEMH challenges. The role of a teaching assistant is crucial in helping these students engage with their learning, build resilience, and succeed both academically and personally. Key responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs Assist in classroom activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour through de-escalation techniques Collaborate with teaching staff to implement EHCPs and support strategies Promote emotional wellbeing and encourage positive behaviour and social interactions Monitor student progress and report back to the SENCO and teachers What we’re looking for: Experience working with young people with SEMH or other special educational needs in a school, youth work or care setting Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff A calm, patient and nurturing approach to supporting young people The ability to manage challenging behaviour in a constructive and non-confrontational way Flexibility, resilience and a passion for improving the lives of young people Desirable: Relevant qualifications: (e.g level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) If you're ready to make a positive impact and support the development of students with SEMH needs, please get in touch with us Working with Long-term Teachers: We are an independent agency working with Nurseries, Primary, Secondary and Special Schools.
