Role: Sales Ledger Clerk
Location: Peterborough
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Salary: Circa £26,000 a year, depending on experience

The Role
As a Sales Ledger Clerk, you will ensure that due diligence and correct authorisation levels are applied to the opening and continued operation of all credit accounts. Maintaining credit control procedures to keep debtor levels to a minimum and following established procedures that ensure accounting control is maintained and Marshall Accounting Policies are adhered to.

Who you are
1. Solid IT skills would be beneficial for this role, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
2. Strong organizational and communication skills, being able not only listen, but to also be able to relay information clearly.
3. You will enjoy working within a high transactional volume environment.
4. Ability to build effective working relationships with your suppliers and colleagues, and be able to collaborate on projects/specific workstreams as appropriate.
5. As a self-starter, you will be able to manage your time and workload effectively to support the wider team
6. Preferably, you will have at least 2 years relevant experience working within a large accounting office, preferably within the automotive retail sector. However, this is not essential to be successful in your application.
7. Knowledge of the Kerridge/Keyloop dealer management system would be a distinct advantage.
8. We are also prepared to consider applications from those without relevant experience but who wish to pursue a career within finance. To be considered on this basis, you must be able to evidence strong numeracy skills and previous experience of working within a busy office environment that includes regular interaction with customers and stakeholders.
What you’ll do
9. Achieve a consistently high standard of ledger maintenance / regularly review ledgers to maintain clear records with accurate and valid notes to ensure that accurate information is always available.
10. Post receipts and daily banking to the ledger in a timely and accurate manner, allocating to correct invoices / ledger and ensuring that sales ledger / each banking is fully reconciled.
11. Post journals where necessary and raise re-charge / adhoc invoices.
12. Liaise with internal customers / colleagues to identify invoicing information errors.
13. Manage cheques and prepare ready for G4S collection.
14. Chase overdue invoices and payments via telephone and email ensuring payments are on track to be paid within the agreed terms.
15. Conduct Experian credit checks for new customers to ensure eligibility for credit.
16. Manage internal and external debt payment questions and enquiries promptly and accurately.
