Job Description

Your role as Mechanical & Engineering Manager...
1. Manage and co-ordinate all HVAC, M&E and Fire reactive and pro-active repairs strategies as directed by the Senior Procurement Manager to improve efficiency, control business criticality and reduce business closures.
2. Manage the procurement and ongoing contracts of appropriate HVAC, M&E and Fire contractors/suppliers nationally, proactively managing the contractors’ performance and KPIs with the assistance of the surveying and compliance teams.
3. Investigate sites for repetitive and/or inherent issues and manage remedial works to resolve via alternative repair or PPM options including condition reports and costings where necessary.
4. Develop and maintain HVAC, M&E and Fire maintenance specifications compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements.
5. Provide support to and co-ordination with the regional surveyors, maintenance technicians, helpdesk, compliance and Pulse support teams to ensure a fully integrated repair and maintenance service.
6. Create, plan and manage innovative, proactive maintenance solutions to improve service, reduce likelihood of breakdown failure and reduce reactive costs.
7. Identify, trial, review and roll out improved environmental options across HVAC and M&E to help reduce GK’s carbon footprint and to align with all relevant future UK Government Green initiatives.
8. Attend Procurement team meetings, surveying team meetings, identified cycled contractor reviews and site visits nationally as required.
9. Provide weekly/monthly updates and/or reports to the Senior Procurement Manager on project progress to enable reporting at Exec and R&M meetings.
10. Advise HoPS and PMs on HVAC and M&E best practice for investment and acquisition sites; review warranty information and project information when assessing appropriate action to deal with repairs and advise Helpdesk/surveying team accordingly.
11. Liaise with appropriate budget holders for authorisation where necessary.
12. Collect and collate FGas Register information for the Carbon Trust and CKA yearly reporting.
13. Collect and collate any verification information required from the above.
14. Review, negotiate with Suppliers and amend the Mechanical, Electrical and Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting Schedule of Rates (SOR) documents to ensure that Greene King has a cost-effective and relevant SOR.
What you’ll bring…
1. Proven experience in managing HVAC, energy distribution, and fire safety systems, with a focus on implementing repair strategies that enhance efficiency and minimise downtime across multiple sites.
2. Strong background in procuring and managing HVAC and M&E suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring KPI adherence within the hospitality sector.
3. In-depth understanding of compliance standards for mechanical and electrical systems, including fire safety, with experience conducting audits to ensure regulatory adherence.
4. Knowledge of sustainable practices and renewable energy solutions, aligning operational strategies with Greene King’s decarbonisation goals.
5. Proactive in identifying and resolving issues, developing innovative maintenance solutions that improve service delivery and reduce costs.
6. Skilled in data analysis and reporting, using advanced Excel and resource planning tools to optimise operations.
7. Strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
8. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, CIBSE, IET) are advantageous.
9. Significant experience managing M&E systems within hospitality, demonstrating a commitment to customer service and operational excellence.
