Job Summary: To provide technical and metallurgical assistance/support to the Development and Process Metallurgist/Engineers to monitor the site processes and solve technical problems, the resolution of which will generally result in a positive financial impact to the company’s performance. This might include participating in projects typically related to introducing new and/or improving existing products/processes, reducing rejections or improving customer satisfaction. Responsibilities In this role, you will: Preparing and polishing microstructural samples and operating a microscope; Perform laboratory testing of hot mill emulsion; Facilitate process quality checks, on all areas of the shopfloor; Investigating process issues, rejections and returned customer samples; Provide support to assist other members of the department running trials; Monitor key process variables. Qualifications You have: (required) The jo b holder will be an undergraduate undertaking a HND/degree in a relevant metallurgical/engineering discipline. It is likely that the job holder will have basic metallurgical and/or processing knowledge however is unlikely to have significant industrial experience. The job holder will be required to rapidly become fully conversant with Arconic’s HSE requirements The job holder will have good problem-solving skills (including general knowledge of statistical techniques) predominantly developed through formal training. The job holder will be computer literate and familiar with widely used commercial software (such as Excel, Powerpoint and Word).
