We are looking for nurses to join our Haematology, Oncology, Immunology and Bone Marrow Transplant services. Direct experience is not essential - if you have the drive to provide the best care, we will support you in developing into this paediatric speciality or transition from an adult setting!

Main duties of the job
* To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, to provide a high standard of holistic family centered care to the children, young people and families.
* To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children and to supervise other staff in this activity.
* Ability to promote family centered care and establish good relationships with children, young people and their families.
* To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
* To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff following achievement of required competence.
* To communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events.
* To start planning discharges from admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary.
* To be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice (NHS Commissioning Board Dec 2012).

Person Specification
Education/Professional Qualification/Training
* Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) registered Nurse
* Able to join the NMC child branch register for candidates educated outside of the UK
* Relevant nursing qualification
* Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies
* Practice Assessor & Preceptorship course or equivalent
Experience/Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children and young people or transferable specialist skills
* Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing
* Understanding and evidence of fulfilling requirements for NMC revalidation
Skills/Abilities
* Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Committed to family centred care
