This is new and exciting role to help with the coordination and management of paediatric patients who are being treated under the plastic surgery and burns teams at Buckinghamshire Health Care NHS Hospitals.
The plastic surgery and burns team is a highly specialised surgical division within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. We are the tertiary referral unit and the burns unit for a large population area covering, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Berkshire.
It is essential for this post holder to have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a paediatric setting and has exposure in looking after patients with plastic surgery and burns related injuries.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills to liaise and work alongside patients and a varied multi professional team.
Main duties of the job
1. To manage paediatric burns and plastics trauma clinics 7 days a week together as part of the MDT
2. Burns MDT Tuesday 12-13
3. To assess paediatric patients referred via the TRIPS system and prioritise patients being seen in hospital for their burn injury as well as supporting referrers with burns care
4. Ensure that all safeguarding referrals are submitted by the plastics and burns medical team or referring hospital
5. To coordinate paediatric burns and plastics trauma patients needing to be booked for surgery through the Stoke Mandeville Trauma list
6. To contribute to / coordinate weekend clinics for Paediatric Burns and Plastics Trauma

Education
Essential criteria
17. Nursing Degree certificate/ RGN/ NMC pin
18. Maths/ English GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications
19. Registered Paediatric Nurse to degree level or equivalent
20. Registered adult (burns) nurse with paediatric competencies
Desirable criteria
21. Further education in burns/ plastic surgery evidence
Core Skills

22. Ability to use a computer
23. Evidence of clear written English
24. Recent experience within the Plastic Surgery and burns speciality field
25. Experience within theatre
26. Wide clinical experience as a nurse
27. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
